About Babe

Babe, is a tiny, cute pup. We believe she is about 9 weeks old on 8-12 and tipped the scale at 4#. We saw a photo of mommy but have no idea who daddy is. We sent in a sample for DNA testing on her brother Dan, so all will be revealed, just not yet. Most dogs from the area have some herding dog like Aussie and nearly all, even the big dogs, have some Chihuahua. We believe she will be in the small dog weight range when she is full grown. She and her two siblings were surrendered by a family in a rural area who felt they would be unable to find her a good permanent home. She had been well cared for before she was surrendered to pup but developed an abscess on her face that had to be flushed so she is not quite as cute as she could be. That said, could she really be cuter?

Babe is living in a foster home with other puppies. She doesn’t like the rough play but prefers play with others her size. She is going outside to play, is using newspapers in the house to do her business, and quickly mastered the stairs even though she is a tiny little girl. Like both of her siblings, she loves to be held and cuddled and craves human interaction.

The early months are when puppy learns the social skills needed to be a skilled dog in dealing with other dogs and a good citizen in the human world. Adopters should be committed to getting puppy into lots of new and different human social situations, hearing vacuums, trucks, and rattling garbage cans, meeting people who are clapping, laughing, with hats, tools, bikes and skate boards. AND puppy needs many opportunities to meet and greet dogs of all shapes, sizes and dispositions. Just sharing a home with another dog is not as much doggie socializing as puppy needs. If good canine social skills are not learned and maintained during these early months, it will be very difficult to ever master them. Puppy play dates, trips to the pet store, puppy socialization classes and later, obedience classes are particularly important. If all this doggie time and involvement seems like a good idea, you are up for a puppy! As always, a tired dog is a good dog.

Babe has been vet checked, vaccinated and de-wormed. She will need two additional puppy vaccinations plus rabies at the adopter’s expense. We do place puppies outside the metro area if a firm plan for the alter surgery is in place; we do not ship. Her required alter surgery is covered by the adoption fee if it is done at 6 months at the PUP clinic. We require that she be altered at 6 months.

If you are at least 21 years old and everyone in your household is on board with adopting a puppy, CALL 651-645-4370 between 7:00 am and 9:30 pm and we will return your call within 24 hours. If you elect to contact us via e-mail it may take several weeks for us to get back to you. Renters must provide proof that you are allowed to have a puppy. If you currently have a companion dog or cat please be prepared to provide a vet reference prior to adoption if requested.
