About Charlie (Special Needs: Vision-Impaired) (Photos 6/4/2025)

Charlie is an adorable 10-year old male Terrier mix who was brought to the HSOV on March 27, 2025 by the Washington County Ohio Dog Warden after he had been picked up on State Route 555 in the Cutler Ohio area. Charlie was not wearing a collar, and he was not microchipped.

Charlie has a black/brown short smooth coat, a long tail, and a cute frosty face with a tan mask, dark brown eyes, a slender muzzle, and large erect ears. Charlie has a rather long body and may have some Dachshund ancestors in his family tree (smile).

This senior citizen appears to be vision-impaired and is easily startled by sudden movements. Charlie was a frightened little guy when he first entered our shelter but quickly learned that he was among his new best friends who had already fallen in love with him.

Charlie weighs 20 lbs and is a petite little guy.

In compliance with the Ohio Revised Code, Charlie was held for the mandatory three-day stray hold so that his family would have an opportunity to reclaim him with proof of ownership. We thought that surely someone would be missing this cute older guy but, surprisingly, nobody called or came looking for this little sweetheart.

Charlie has recently been making his temporary home in our front office and loves to lounge in his blanket-covered Kuranda bed when he isn't assisting with office duties (such as making himself available for cuddling/petting). Charlie has become a social butterfly who adores attention, and he will follow you around to politely ask for petting while wagging his tail at warp speeds.

Charlie is easily startled due to his impaired vision and sudden moves/different environment understandably tend to create anxiety for this little man. Charlie actually has a sweet disposition and responds best to slow-and-easy handling.

This little guy has melted many hearts and will make someone a terrific companion. Charlie will be neutered before being officially adopted but could be fostered-to-adopt with an approved HSOV foster/adoption application.
