Elliott was rescued as a stray in Waterbury. He is currently in a foster home in Berlin with three small dogs and a senior cat. He is an extremely friendly lap cat who LOVES attention! He is also very playful and extremely chatty and talkative. He is six years old, and has been neutered, microchipped, vaccinated for rabies/distemper, and tested negative for FeLV. Unfortunately, he has tested positive for FIV. Many FIV+ cats live long, healthy lives, and we hope that this will be the case for Elliott. He currently appears to be healthy, and is not taking any medication. FIV can only be transmitted to other cats through intercourse, which usually does not happen after cats have been neutered, and deep bite wounds. Cats that are compatible normally do not bite each other hard enough to draw blood. FIV cannot be transmitted to humans, dogs, or animals other than cats. FIV cannot be transmitted to other cats through casual contact, such as sharing food/water bowls, litter boxes, mutual grooming, etc. If you have any questions about FIV, please send an email, and we will be happy to answer them.
